What position(s) do you play?
I’m a jammer!
Who’s your biggest fan?
My Dad is my biggest fan, but kids and hubby are a close second. FYI my mother is the worst fan – she watches it with her eyes closed!
How did you pick your derby name and number?
I picked my derby name because I am legitimately a butcher’s daughter (hence why my dad is my number one fan). My number is my year of birth.
What’s your favourite thing about roller derby?
Roller derby is a sport that challenges every physical/mental part of me. I’m a little on the vintage side and just picking it up, but I love that it incorporates all my past competitive sports into one. Add in full contact and you have to make sure you are always physically and mentally prepared.
What’s your most memorable derby moment?
Putting on my skates for the first time at Derby 101. I actually love seeing everyone who was in Derby 101 with me pass their skills and see the incredible development from the first day we were on skates. Second favourite is looking into the crowd on game day and seeing friends and family cheering!
Do you have any pre-bout rituals?
Pre bout rituals are just relaxing with teammates in the change room — chatting and catching up. Then after a bit of chill I put on a good game face for the warm up.
What advice would you give someone interested in playing derby?
If you want to get involved with derby, join Derby 101 for sure. The instructors break it down for you and you progress at your own pace. Know your limits but be able to challenge yourself to go outside your comfort zone. That is where you will see development.
Who do you want to give a shout-out to?
I have a lot of shout-outs! First, family (supporting my nights away), my sponsor McGowan Insulations, and Tina and Lane, SUPER FANS!
