How We’re Trying to Make it Better

Everyone Skates: HCRD’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Plan aims to remove the barriers that prevent people from enjoying and participating in the sport of roller derby.

Gear Lending Library: Roller derby requires specific equipment which means it can be an expensive sport. HCRD’s gear lending library exists to help skaters participate without worrying about the cost. Roller skates and safety equipment can be lent to new skaters free of charge. The gear lending library is mainly composed of donations from league members and others from the roller derby community.

Roll It Forward Fund: A pool of funds allocated to help alleviate dues commitments for HCRD Pier Pressure and Rep members experiencing financial hardship. The Roll It Forward Fund is supported by monetary sponsorships and fundraising activities. If dues ever become an issue, skaters can draw from this fund for assistance.

Diversity and Inclusion Training and Education: Our league is committed to educating our league members on what it means to be an equitable, diverse, and inclusive sport. We are developing roller-derby specific training modules which will be used to share this knowledge with future HCRD league members and the roller derby community as a whole.
